1999 Caterham Roadsports A Racecar (T7 BEW)

We felt it was time to return back to the Caterham fold, racing hadn't been as fun without a Caterham in the garage so when the opportunity arose to deal the Clio with a Caterham we jumped at it.

The deal went down where all legitimate exchanges do. in a Lidl carpark outside Newcastle of course!

We ended up with the 1999 Caterham Roadsports A Racecar T7 BEW

It was a little on the rough side with its cracked nose cone, hacked up dashboard, badly painted wheels and brush painted hammerite on wishbones etc

Despite all this T7BEW has all the right bits starting with the race chassis then the 1600cc K series engine which is dry sumped and fitted with the Caterham Supersport engine upgrade . This is linked to the Caterham 6 Spd gearbox with LSD and low final drive for rapid acceleration. Widetrack front suspension, Bilstein shocks and race springs should make it lively in the corners, Finally the full Safety Devices cage should keep us safe in the event of any more Recticel attacks!

Within hours of getting it in the garage we began to strip it down. The bits that wouldn't be staying were the red paintwork, noddy headlamps, skinny wheels and the windscreen, it's been a busy winter.

The car is now near complete with the exception of Safety Devices side impact protection bars and a Caterham Tillet seat

T7BEW is now totally un recognisable even the reg has changed to S7VUN . The car is now sports Porsche Viper Green paintwork sprayed by Greg Kemply in Baildon, Yorkshire . New nosecone , black wings front and rear, scuttle panel , race screen , dash panel , superlight headlamps and rear camber adjusting ears have all found there way on, supplied by Brett at Caterham Midlands.

As well as replacing many items we have also had the wishbones, wingstays, the anti rollbar, kickplates, gravel guard, grill and kill switch surround refinished in semi gloss black by Peateys Coatings, even the exhaust didn't escape, receiving a buff at Menston Metal Polishers.

Finally the last change is to the wheels, the car now sports a set of MINILITE rims 6" front 8" rear wearing AVON ACB10 rubber.
