The life of S7 VUN Caterham R400 Superlight
Full season booked for 2005 in and the R400 was immediately fast, dualing with John Hoyle throughout the season but struggling to get the better of the 250bhp XE engined Westfield , We visited Prescott , Loton Park in addition to the Harewood Championship top year and plenty of Silverware to show for it!

QED 220 BHP More power planned for 2006 so S7 VUN went to QED for a workout and come back with an honest 222BHP. The engine work consisted of new cams, liners and a DTA engine management system.

Fire breathing R400 was ready for cracking 2006, then a major set back, team leader and financer :-) .Jonathan tragically passed away in January, leaving Simon to go forward and fly the flag.
Engine gremlins sorted at the test day with fuel adjustments and new spark plugs raring to go. Harewood first corner on the first race run of 2006, throttle assembly collapsed sticking the throttle wide open on a 90 right with no run off, r400 met Recticel barrier and that was the last time it raced.

S7VUN was put back to as new condition and remained off the road it was then sold on to a very worthy new owner; it's in a retirement home full of Ferraris! The new owner Dave has taken the Caterham on numerous track days around the country including Oulton Park and Silverstone - where he very kindly took the Playtoy crew members out for a few demonstration laps.
